As an island of 47,000 residents, recent history has shown Grand Bahama enduring several tragically destructive hurricanes as well as economic depression for years. This reality was compounded in September 2019, with the record-breaking and destructive passage of Hurricane Dorian that not only took hundreds of lives but also battered homes and businesses. One of these economic casualties was the loss of the island’s only remaining major family entertainment provider––its movie theater.

Since then, residents wishing to enjoy a night out at the movies have no local option and must travel off-island to do so. The average person, let alone family, cannot afford to do this.
